BASF Co., Ltd. and Monsanto U.S. cooperate to develop drought-resistant cotton varieties

The annual report of the Monsanto Company of the United States announced a different group project across the research and development (R&D) platform aimed at increasing farmers' productivity, increasing income, and making our planet more sustainable.

The Biotechnology Platform On top of its biotechnology platform, Monsanto highlighted two collaborations with BASF's plant science on yield and drought tolerance. One of the high yield and drought-tolerant projects in this year is drought-tolerant cotton.

Drought-tolerant cotton The characteristics of drought-tolerant cotton are that, in the event of an accidental or persistent water stress environment, the utilization rate of water resources is increased by stabilizing yields. This feature is also expected to reduce the use of water in irrigation cotton fields. For the drought-resistant cotton family, this is the first generation project.

Monsanto, the agricultural economic solutions platform, highlighted some of the advancements in its agro-solution platform. In this area, Monsanto collaborates with the BASF crop protection department to formulate a formula for improving dicamba.

The dicamba + Roundup blending formula has advanced to the third stage, and the expanded field trials will begin in 2012 and are currently awaiting approval from the EPA. Dicamba is an economical and effective herbicide that can excellently control a wide range of broad-leaved weeds.
